Kiosk

The Kiosk module enables shared self-service terminals where multiple users can check tools in and out using cards, QR codes, or PIN codes — without needing a personal login on the device.

What it does

Shared terminal authentication

Set up a tablet or computer as a shared kiosk station. Users identify themselves by scanning a card or entering an ID code, optionally followed by a PIN. The kiosk itself stays in a shared state — no one stays "logged in" on the device.

Multiple identification methods

MethodFormatUse case
QR codePrinted QR cardsPhysical cards with company and user ID
Mifare/RFIDNFC cardsContactless card tap
HMSkortNorwegian building IDConstruction site worker cards
Manual ID codeNumeric digitsKeypad entry when no card available

PIN security

The kiosk can require a PIN code for extra security:

  • Company-level setting: require all users to have a PIN
  • First-time users: prompted to create and confirm a new PIN on their first kiosk login
  • Returning users: enter their existing PIN
  • Configurable PIN length: 4, 5, or 6 digits (set per kiosk terminal)

ID card and PIN fields across the app

When the Kiosk module is enabled, ID card and PIN fields appear in several places:

  • Personal settings — users can set their own PIN
  • User edit page (admin) — admins can assign ID cards and PINs to users, with QR scan support
  • Invite/create user page (admin) — pre-assign ID card and PIN when creating new users

Per-terminal configuration

Each kiosk terminal stores its settings locally in the browser:

  • Kiosk enabled — toggle kiosk mode for this browser
  • Scanner installed — toggle between barcode scanner input and manual keypad
  • PIN code length — 4, 5, or 6 digits
  • ID code length — for manual entry mode
  • Language — per-terminal language selection

These settings are managed by a company admin from the kiosk page itself.

Where you see it in the app

  • Company Settings → Optional Modules → Kiosk toggle + Settings button (links to /kiosk)
  • Kiosk page (/kiosk) — the shared terminal interface with scan/keypad/PIN modes
  • Personal settings → ID Card PIN field (when module active)
  • User edit → ID Card + PIN fields (when module active)
  • Invite user → ID Card + PIN fields (when module active)

How to activate

  2. Navigate to the Kiosk page (via the Settings button that appears, or directly at /kiosk).
  3. As an admin, configure the kiosk terminal settings (scanner, PIN length, etc.).
  4. Assign ID cards to your users via the User Edit page or let them set their own PINs in Personal Settings.
