Kiosk
The Kiosk module enables shared self-service terminals where multiple users can check tools in and out using cards, QR codes, or PIN codes — without needing a personal login on the device.
What it does
Shared terminal authentication
Set up a tablet or computer as a shared kiosk station. Users identify themselves by scanning a card or entering an ID code, optionally followed by a PIN. The kiosk itself stays in a shared state — no one stays "logged in" on the device.
Multiple identification methods
| Method | Format | Use case |
|---|---|---|
| QR code | Printed QR cards | Physical cards with company and user ID |
| Mifare/RFID | NFC cards | Contactless card tap |
| HMSkort | Norwegian building ID | Construction site worker cards |
| Manual ID code | Numeric digits | Keypad entry when no card available |
PIN security
The kiosk can require a PIN code for extra security:
- Company-level setting: require all users to have a PIN
- First-time users: prompted to create and confirm a new PIN on their first kiosk login
- Returning users: enter their existing PIN
- Configurable PIN length: 4, 5, or 6 digits (set per kiosk terminal)
ID card and PIN fields across the app
When the Kiosk module is enabled, ID card and PIN fields appear in several places:
- Personal settings — users can set their own PIN
- User edit page (admin) — admins can assign ID cards and PINs to users, with QR scan support
- Invite/create user page (admin) — pre-assign ID card and PIN when creating new users
Per-terminal configuration
Each kiosk terminal stores its settings locally in the browser:
- Kiosk enabled — toggle kiosk mode for this browser
- Scanner installed — toggle between barcode scanner input and manual keypad
- PIN code length — 4, 5, or 6 digits
- ID code length — for manual entry mode
- Language — per-terminal language selection
These settings are managed by a company admin from the kiosk page itself.
Where you see it in the app
