Tool Collection
The Tool Collection module lets you group related tools together into sets or containers, so you can manage them as a single unit.
What it does
Create tool collections
When this module is enabled, a new tool type called Collection becomes available in the tool editor. A collection acts as a container that holds other tools.
When you mark a tool as a Collection:
- A special "warehouse" is automatically created behind the scenes to hold the collection's contents
- You can add other tools to this collection
- You can also add "other contents" — untracked items or notes (e.g., "3x screwdriver bits, 1x carrying case")
- The collection's name syncs with the tool's nickname
Browse collection contents
From a collection tool's detail page, a link takes you to the collection's content view where you can:
- See all tools in the collection
- Add new tools directly into the collection
- Add/reorder/edit other (untracked) contents (admin only)
- Search and filter tools within the collection
How collections differ from warehouses
Collections are essentially specialized warehouses tied to a specific tool. They appear in the "give to" flow as transfer targets, but they are visually distinct from regular warehouses and are managed through their parent tool.
Where you see it in the app
- Company Settings → Optional Modules → Tool Collection toggle
- Tool editor → Tool type selector gains a "Collection" option
- Tool detail page → "See contents" link on collection tools
- Collection contents view → List of tools + other contents
- Give tool flow → Collections appear as transfer targets
How to activate
